On May 17, 2019, at about 12:30 pm, the Thousand Oaks Police Department and the Ventura County Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus a motorcycle traffic collision at the intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Marin Street. After performing life-saving measures, the motorcyclist, 18 year old Thousand Oaks resident, Chad Tsumpes was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ventura County Fire Department.
Tsumpes was traveling west on Hillcrest Drive approaching Marin Street where 56 year old Thousand Oaks resident, Chialun Tsai was making a northbound left turn onto Marin Street from Hillcrest Drive. The two collided in the intersection.
The collision is still under investigation by the Thousand Oaks Police Traffic Bureau. Anyone who might have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy Mike Berg at (805) 494-8271.
