Two Oxnard Teens Arraigned on Murder Charges

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that a 15-year-old juvenile male was arraigned on a charge of murder for the April 22, 2018, shooting death of Jose Lopez in the city of Oxnard.  The juvenile petition filed by the District Attorney’s Office also alleges the murder was committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang and was committed with use of a firearm.  The minor was also arraigned on the unrelated murder of Adrian Ornelas that was committed on May 20, 2018, in Oxnard.  The minor denied all charges and allegations, and a hearing to transfer his cases to adult court was set for October 25, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. in J3 of the Juvenile Justice Center. 

A 16-year-old juvenile male also charged with the murder of Mr. Ornelas was arraigned yesterday and denied all charges and allegations.  His case was also continued to October 25, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. in J3 of the Juvenile Justice Center for a hearing to transfer his case to adult court.

Both minors remain in custody.
