Under One Roof in Simi Valley

At their August 19th meeting, cialis the Simi Valley City Council approved a 50 year lease for approximately 15, viagra 100mg 500 square feet of the City’s 18, seek 000 square feet Development Services Building located on the City’s administrative campus.  The Simi Valley Community Foundation agreed to pay the City $1 per year to house the Foundation’s Under One Roof Project.  The formal agreement allows the project to go forward.

Founded in 2000 by Chamber of Commerce CEO, Leigh Nixon, the Foundation provides support as an umbrella for local charities in coordinating and maximizing their resources.   They have aided in raising funds using their 501 (C) (4) for residents through their charitable management  services.  Their projects include the Metrolink Memorial, the Military Banner Program and Under One Roof.

The largest of the 15 non-profits of the Under One Roof project occupying the building is the Simi Valley Free Clinic.  The Clinic will offer dental, medical and psychological counseling.

The lease, though only for $1 per year, does saddle the tenant with numerous costs, including taxes, governmental fees, utilities, most maintenance and a 5 year build-out for improvements.  They are also obligated under the lease to a prevailing wage agreement.  They can sublet but cannot sublet to anyone who uses “hate speech,” which is not defined. The city will continue to maintain the exterior at its own expense.

The Council Chambers were filled with their supporters.  Planning to open by April of 2014, this will be the fruition of 5 years of planning and fund raising for the project.
