Ventura County Community College District Issues Statement and Information on Thousand Oaks Tragedy

(CAMARILLO, Calif.) Nov. 8, 2018 – The Ventura County Community College District expresses our deepest condolences to the victims of the Thousand Oaks shooting and acknowledges the heroic efforts of Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Helus and first responders. We offer heartfelt sympathy to families and friends of all the victims.

Moorpark, Oxnard, and Ventura colleges remain open. On-campus health centers are valuable resources for students, staff, and faculty who may wish to access services during this sad time for our community. Center information is as follows:

Moorpark College Student Health Center:

Hours: Monday/Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday/Wednesday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Additional mental health providers are on-site for drop- in counseling, questions, answers, and referrals. Students can also access information through the student portal. Friday hours may be extended.

Hours: Monday -Thursday 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Counselors are on-site for drop-in counseling. Regular office hours are in effect, however, any students in crisis may call the office at any time for assistance.
