Ventura : Suspect arrested for Commercial Burglary & Driving a Stolen Vehicle

On 7/5/18, detectives with the Ventura Police Street Crimes Unit concluded their investigation of two commercial burglaries that occurred at the Del Taco restaurant on 4393 E. Main St. The burglaries occurred on 3/28/18 and 6/26/18 in the early morning hours. During the commission of both crimes, the suspect used a hammer to smash the front glass window of the business and stole cash from the registers. An alert citizen observed the suspect flee the scene in a vehicle after committing the second burglary. The citizen provided the license plate number to the officers on scene and the vehicle was later determined to be a stolen vehicle reported out of the city of Santa Paula.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect to be 43 year old Santa Paula resident, Manuel Alamillo based on evidence gathered from the scene and surveillance video. On 7/5/18 at approximately 1030 hours, detectives arrested Alamillo, who confessed to committing both burglaries and driving a stolen vehicle during the commission of the second burglary. Prior to Alamillo’s arrest, detectives located the stolen vehicle in Santa Paula and it was released to the owner. Alamillo was booked at the Ventura County Jail for two counts of 459 PC- second degree burglary, 10851(a) VC- driving a stolen vehicle and 496d(a) PC- possession of a stolen vehicle (all felony charges).

According to the Ventura County Superior Court website, in 2018, Alamillo was arrested for 10851(a) VC- driving a stolen vehicle and 10852 VC- vehicle tampering. Additionally in 2017, Alamillo was arrested and convicted for 496(a) PC- possession of stolen property.
