Ventura | Vagrant arrested after Aledged Assault on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest on the Promenade

On June 14th at 10:24 AM, an officer was patrolling the area of the beachside on the promenade, when a citizen reported a subject that was disturbing and yelling at people. The officer saw the subject, later identified as Casey Spencer, on the California St. Plaza adjacent to the Crowne Plaza hotel and attempted to make contact with him. As he attempted to make contact with Spencer, Spencer threw a cup of water towards the officer and tried to spit on him. The officer conducted a takedown and took Spencer into custody.

Spencer was transported to the Ventura County Jail and booked for misdemeanor assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

No one was injured as a result of this incident.

According to the Ventura County Superior Court website, Spencer has prior convictions in 2017 for disturbing the peace, drunk in public and petty theft, and he currently has an open case for unlawful camping.
