Ventura Vagrant suspect in Liquor Store Break-in

On June 8th in 2:17 AM, the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a call from a resident in the area of Scandia Liquor, 10257 Telephone Rd., reporting that the alarm to the business had activated and there were noises as if someone was trying to break in. When officers arrived on scene, they found the front door window to the business had been shattered with a rock. It was confirmed alcohol and cigarettes were taken from inside.

While conducting the investigation, officers were able to view the store’s video surveillance and recognized the suspect, later identified as 58 year old vagrant, Daniel Willis, as having burglarizing the business.

At approximately 6:52 AM, an officer was patrolling in the area and saw Willis walking near the intersection of Las Cruces St. and Petit Ave. He was contacted and taken into custody without incident.

Willis was later booked into the Ventura County Jail for burglary and violation of probation.
