We Need Community Support! Many Mansions Veterans Home Development

The City Council will be considering a joint proposal by Many Mansions and the Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura to develop up to 200 affordable apartments for veterans on a 9.68-acre city owned site in east Ventura (Telephone and Wells).

Our proposal is to develop a community including 200 homes:

–54 apartments with supportive services for homeless veterans,

–66 apartments for veteran families, and

–80 apartments for senior veterans.

This hearing to select a developer for the site is the culmination of a process lasting over a year.

However, the city staff/subcommittee is recommending an alternate proposal by a non-local team to build 122 apartments. We think it is important for this project that the City Council select local experienced developers like us.

We need a strong showing of support!

There are many ways to show your support for Many Mansions/Housing Authority being selected as the developer of this project!

  1. Email your written comments to the City Council [council@cityofventura.ca.gov],
  2. Come in person and submit a comment card with your written comments (cards are available beginning at 5:00pm and you do not have to speak – your comments will be read),
  3. Come in person and submit a speaker card to share your thoughts with the council,
  4. Come in person and show support just by your quiet attendance.

Our goal is to show the City Council that there is support for a local developer to develop this local project.  We may not be successful, but we are also trying to gain Council favor for perhaps future projects within the City of Ventura.

We are last on the agenda!  While the meeting begins at 6:00 p.m., it is likely our matter will not be heard until 8:00 p.m.  A showing of support anytime during the Council hearing is welcome.

Please let us know if you plan to attend! Email to Bambi@manymansions.org. Time and dates sometimes change so we want to make sure you have the latest information.
