Young Artists Ensemble Hold Auditions for The Little Prince

THOUSAND OAKS, CA – Young Artists Ensemble holds auditions for THE LITTLE PRINCE directed by Suzanne Tobin. Auditions are open to performers age 10-19.   Auditions are held Saturday and Sunday, December 1 and 2 by appointment only at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 West Hillcrest Drive. Time slots begin at 9:45 am on Saturday and 10:00 am on Sunday.  Actors are requested to prepare a one-minute memorized monologue or poem and wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in.  Each audition will last two hours and may include improvisation, cold reading and dance.  Actors with special talents including playing an instrument and gymnastics are also encouraged to audition. Performances are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays February 1 – 24, 2019.  Young Artists Ensemble performances are February 1 – 17, 2019 and Conejo Theatre for Everyone performances are February 22 -24, 2019.  Please see web site for all details.

All participants must be at least 10 years old and not yet 20 years old by February 24, 2019.  Character descriptions and all other information is available on the YAE web site.  Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and Saturdays 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. All cast and parents must attend a mandatory welcome meeting on Wednesday, December 5 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. If cast, there is a $180 participation fee. Financial Assistance is available.  The Little Prince is the beautiful and lyrical story, based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, about a little boy who finds magic in everyone and everything he encounters throughout the universe – from a single rose, to a wild fox, to a stranded pilot. An additional final weekend includes performance by CONEJO THEATRE FOR EVERYONE, teaming up YAE kids and performers with special needs for a unique theatrical experience.

The Little Prince is the second production in Young Artists Ensemble’s 38th Annual Family Theatre Season.  The “Season of Unexpected Magic” will conclude with DISNEY AND CAMERON MACKINTOSH’S MARY POPPINS, JR. Young Artists Ensemble received 19 nominations and four wins for their 2017-19 Productions.  Winners in the 13th Annual National Youth Arts Awards included Outstanding Production: Grease, Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical: Nick Meyer as Danny Zuko in Grease, Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Musical: Kristen Wisneski as Marty in Grease, and Outstanding Musical Direction: Zachary Spencer for Grease. Among the many nominees were performers and creative staff from Hillcrest Players Productions Shadow of a Pout and If the Shoe Fits, and Young Artists Ensemble’s production of Madagascar, Jr.
