Simi Valley, Calif. – 1 person arrested for DUI and 9 citations issued while conducting a DUI checkpoint on 9-26-20. The DUI arrest involved a Simi Valley resident. His blood-alcohol level was .21/.20 %, which is two and a half times the legal limit. He was booked at the Ventura County Jail for DUI, 148.9 PC- Providing a false name, and 14601.5 VC-Driving on a suspended license due to a prior DUI. The citations are broken down into the following: (7) Driving without being licensed, (1) Driving on a suspended license for a prior DUI, and (1) Passenger smoking marijuana inside of a vehicle.
The checkpoint was held Erringer Road and Royal Avenue from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
As businesses continue to reopen, including bars and restaurants, impaired driving remains a top traffic safety concern.
