4 Practices Required to Live a Truly Healthy Life

    By  DEREK HENRY, WWW.HEALINGTHEBODY.CA

It’s certainly not easy to live a healthy life in a world full of toxic food, air, water, and thoughts. If that wasn’t enough, we also have a nutritionally inferior food supply and a medical system that is hell bent on applying bandaids at the expense of providing knowledge and solutions that positively affect real long term health. So what is a person to do in order to stay truly healthy? You simply unplug from the parts of the system that are broken, do the practices required to live a truly healthy life.

    Gardening

The minute mankind decided that a very small percentage of people were going to be responsible to produce the majority of the food supply, was the minute everything was about to go wrong. This decision not only put undue stress on a select number of people, it also ignited a system that was focused more on quantity than quality. The scientific experiments (GMO’s) that ensued are now being debated and the future of our health depends on a proper resolution that works WITH nature, not against it.

As a result of this movement towards industrial farming and “frankenfoods”, those concerned with their food supply have opted to support local, small scale farmers. This allows people to identify with the origin of their food, to get it fresh, and to support a sustainable practice that promotes the health of the planet.

However, even though it is a move in the right direction, the best practice to ensure you live a truly healthy life is to engage in your own gardening in some shape or form. This does not need to be a big operation; it  may even start as a few plants in some pots. The point is to understand and appreciate your ability to grow your own food, and to become more in touch with the very process that supports life on this planet.

If you do really enjoy it and want to spend more time gardening, you will find out how peaceful and nurturing the very act of gardening is, and at the same time you will be producing a small portion of fresh and organic food that you can truly appreciate. Now, just think if even 50% more people started to produce a 1 month supply of their own food…the power in those numbers would support a better system that would leave the health of everyone and everything in a much better place!

Find out how small scale gardening could save the world.

    Use Food as Your Medicine

It seems pretty straightforward when you think about it, yet, people seem more inclined to use conventional medicine (drugs, vaccines) over quality food as their source to “solve” health problems and increase immunity. We can clearly see what those choices have given us…which has further fueled the sick care system and the luxury cars and boats of the executives who profit from them.

To think that man has created the ultimate form of medicine and has cornered health through its medicine and procedures is a direct insult to the real provider of medicine on this planet – Mother Nature. If she actually had a temper and was vindictive towards those who choose modern medicine over food for their primary source of medicine, she would pull the bounty off the planetary table and have them fend for themselves. Fortunately, she always gives regardless of mankind’s ignorance.

Listen. Food heals. Period. It is not a frivolous planetary decoration. It has a specific function, like all plants, and our symbiotic relationship with them will dictate our degree of health. The farther you get away from food and plants, the farther you get away from health. End of story.

If you want to live a truly healthy life, eating real whole food and using it as your medicine is the base requirement.

Use the Sun, Earth, and Water Wisely

We generally aren’t very good at using the fundamental healing sources provided to us. We block or misuse the healing benefits of the sun, have become disconnected from the healing charge of the earth, and drink water that is at best a bastardized version of the real thing.

First of all, the sun makes human and plant life on this planet possible so that automatically gives it some credence. It also helps our body produce vitamin D, contributes to healthy hormones, and governs our wake-sleep cycle, all of which are important for a truly healthy life.

Learn more about the healing benefits of the sun, here.

Besides giving us a place to stay, planet Earth provides a tremendous healing energy that has become even more important today. This negative charge is sorely needed with the excessive positive charge of cell phones, electronics, and EMF’s constantly battering our bodies. Think of the earth as the ultimate “discharge”, and learn how to use it more effectively.

Water is also a fundamental requirement for a truly healthy life. With 75% of our body composed of it, we need to ensure we stay properly hydrated for proper functioning. Unfortunately, our water supply has been tainted and stripped and we have had to make adjustments in the way we view it in order to get the best supply.

    Proper Mindset and Support

Not until recently has mindset been discussed in a more public and robust way. The growing numbers of people experiencing stress, anxiety, and depression has forced the issue into the spotlight to be dealt with before it becomes an epidemic of disastrous proportions.

It is now becoming more fully understood that mindset is a key factor to living a truly healthy and happy life. No one can debate the physical conditions that are brought on by mental stress alone, and with foods and drugs that short circuit the proper development of the brain, things become even more complicated.

Much of this mental stress begins with a negative self image and being shamed at an early age. As we continue to age, we start to identify ourselves with images of our peers and in the process start accumulating mental and physical baggage that serves little purpose other than making us feel temporarily worthy.

If we really want to become healthy, we need to change our mindset from expectations to appreciation. Try gratitude and ditch solitude. Surround yourself with supportive people with the same life plan as you, and exercise perspective. Simplify your life if your extra baggage is causing you undue mental and physical stress, and see how delicious simplicity really is and you will understand why many people are opting for it!

In the end, there are many things we can do for our health, but these four factors are very important in order to maintain not only our personal health, but also the health of the planet. After all, a healthy co-existence is necessary for the survival of both.
