Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release
On Thursday, October 24, 2019, at approximately 9:43 p.m., Officers responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a pick-up truck and a tree on Los Angeles Avenue west of Emory Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers discovered that six people were trapped inside the truck. Ventura County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and extricated the subjects from the truck.
Sadly, we are reporting that the driver and front seat passenger were killed as a result of the collision. The other four passengers were transported to trauma centers in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. Three of the passengers are in critical condition and one of them sustained minor injuries.
The cause of the investigation is still under investigation, but it appears unsafe speed may be a factor. At this time, the names of the people involved in this collision are being withheld until proper notifications can be made and/or due to their ages. Anyone with information regarding the collision should contact Senior Officer Kevin VanFleet at (805) 583-6182.
