Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
On February 13 at 5:12 PM the Ventura Police Command Center received a 911 call of an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and bicyclist in the 1800 Block of Topaz Ave. The first arriving officers found the bicyclist, an 11-year-old male, suffering from serious injuries. The bicyclist was treated at the scene by Ventura City Fire personnel and then transported to a local hospital.
The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle was traveling on a private road of a condominium complex and did not see the bicyclist riding in the area and collided with him. Upon striking the bicyclist, the driver stopped the vehicle and remained at the scene. Due to the severity of injuries to the bicyclist, the Ventura Police Department Traffic Unit was called to the scene and will be handling the investigation.
