Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
Near the end of the year 2020, detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit received information from numerous sources regarding (S) Karen Hernandez being involved with the sales of narcotics to residents of Ventura County.
On April 13th, 2021 at about 3:45 PM, detectives with the Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Hernandez. She displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested.
During a search of her vehicle, a small dog named “Gracie” was located along with dog chew toys, and dog food. Hidden within the dog supplies were almost two pounds of methamphetamine, a quarter pound of cocaine, a quarter pound of heroin, rock cocaine, a large sum of cash, and other evidence indicative of drug sales. Detectives verified Gracie had not ingested any controlled substances and released the dog over to a responsible party.
