Camarillo Recall Effort Falls Short – Still the Community Stood Up Against Defunding the Police

The Committee to Recall Susan Santangelo & Shawn Mulchay would like to thank our fellow residents of Camarillo for the tremendous support in the recall effort. All total we had almost 300 hundred volunteers who dedicated countless hours to manning community booths, walking neighborhoods to pass out information, collecting signatures, writing letters, making phone calls, and donating supplies.

Together we brought to light issues regarding two of our City Councilmembers who were working to push forward their own personal agendas. We have brought awareness to our community regarding what’s going on within our own city, and many more people have tuned in to the Camarillo City Council meetings thanks to your efforts.

Although we fell just shy of the required number of signatures to move forward with the recall of Susan Santangelo & Shawn Mulchay, we did collect far more signatures than these two councilmembers were elected by. The community has stood up and made it clear they do NOT want our local law enforcement defunded.

We are not going away. Neighbors, friends, families, and residents of nearby communities are united in pressing forward as stewards of this great community to ensure Camarillo remains a safe place to live & work. We are grateful to the residents of the Heights, the Estates, Santa Rosa Valley, University Glen, Camarillo Springs, Somis, Newbury Park, Santa Barbara, and many others who all came out to show their support. These neighboring communities are also affected by the defunding efforts of these two councilmembers.

It has been our honor to take a stand and show support for the men & women who serve our community. Our deepest gratitude goes out to you, our local law enforcement officers for the tremendous job you do in protecting our community. Thank you!

My word, how many signatures were needed?
I was told by a person who ran for city council that the votes were only counted to 40% before declaring winners. Has there been an audit of the vote, to determine how many people ACTUALLY voted who were valid votes?

Maybe that’s why the recall failed. The bar waa set too high

West Ventura County conservatives: if serious about not going away by staying put, prepare now for what comes after politics in (what used to be) your area.

Weigh the decision carefully. Your state constitution and laws falsely assert law enforcement can protect you and your loved ones better than you can. Oxnard, Ventura, Portland and Minneapolis visibly prove why this is a lie.

And it is always harder to reclaim ground you have lost, than to hold it.
