Learn about kelp and become a Junior Ranger at Leo Carrillo State Park on Friday, August 26 at 1PM
About this event
Join us for our Junior Ranger program at Leo Carrillo State Beach on August 26th.
If you’ve ever walked along a shore in California, you might have come across washed-up bundles of kelp or been surprised by the sliminess of its “leaves” that wrap around your legs while wading in our coastal water.
Kelp forests are home to thousands of species such as otters, sea urchins and many more! Furthermore, did you know that Giant Kelp and other algae are also ingredients in many of our everyday products and food items?
Join us and become a Junior Ranger while exploring the wonders of the kelp forests and how they play a key role not only under water but in our everyday lives.
This is a free program given by Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, however keep in mind there is a parking fee for Leo Carrillo State Beach where the program will be located. Beach attire is fine for this program. For more information, please call the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center at 805-370-2301 or email us at [email protected]
