Arrest for Stalking and Use of an Explosive Device

Suspect arrested in Arizona for crimes he committed in Thousand Oaks, CA.

On January 28, 2023, patrol units from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a reported explosion that occurred in the 100 block of South Fallbrook Ave. During their contact with residents in the area, deputies discovered a vehicle had stopped in the street and an explosive device was dropped by the occupant of the vehicle. In addition, they learned a resident in the area was being stalked by her ex-boyfriend and suspected him of this crime.

East County Major Crimes Detectives assumed the investigation and obtained evidence indicating Salvatore Sorbello, the victim’s ex-boyfriend, was the perpetrator of these crimes. Detectives discovered that Sorbello traveled from Arizona to California to commit the crime and returned to Arizona after the explosive device was detonated.

East County Major Crimes Detectives obtained a $100,000 arrest warrant for Sorbello, with full extradition terms. Detectives solicited the assistance of the Pinal County (AZ) Sheriff’s Office’s Gang and Habitual Offender Strike Team to track down Sorbello. On February 14, 2023, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office took Sorbello into custody for the Ventura County arrest warrant.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office for their efforts in locating and apprehending Sorbello. Law enforcement agencies routinely assist one another with such matters, even when suspects cross state lines.
