The City of Moorpark is hosting a Coastal Cleanup Day site at Villa Campesina Park on Saturday, September 21, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Residents are invited to participate in the event by cleaning up a section of the Arroyo Simi.
Those interested in volunteering should meet near the pedestrian bridge at Villa Campesina Park, 4704 Leta Yancy Road. Most local schools recognize the hours volunteered on Coastal Cleanup Day towards the graduation requirement for service hours. In cooperation with the California Coastal Commission, the City is committed to reducing the environmental footprint of Coastal Cleanup Day. Please join the effort this year by turning out to the Cleanup with a “Bring Your Own” philosophy. Volunteers can bring a bucket to the Cleanup for collecting trash. Volunteers should bring a lightweight pair of gardening gloves from home, instead of using the disposable plastic gloves provided at the Cleanup. Volunteers can also bring a filled, reusable water bottle to the Cleanup. If possible, consider carpooling to the Cleanup.
