HIDALGO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge seized $2,280,000 worth of alleged methamphetamine discovered in a pickup truck driven by an Edinburg, Texas man.
“Great teamwork and commitment to the CBP border security mission is what motivates our officers to continue this endeavor of keeping dangerous drugs from crossing our borders. This seizure illustrates CBP’s ongoing effort to secure our borders at ports of entry and prevent this poison from inflicting further harm on our communities,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas.
CBP officers working at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge on April 13, 2021 encountered a 20-year-old male United States citizen driving a white Ford Ranger pickup arriving from Mexico. The packages weighed 114 pounds (51.72 kg).
CBP OFO seized the narcotics, the vehicle and arrested the driver who was subsequently turned over to the custody of agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) as they continue with the investigation.
