WHAT: The California Black Health Network (CBHN) will host a Health Equity Forum on January 18 featuring Alice Chen, MD, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Covered California, for a discussion and listening session focused on, “Covered California and the Black Community.” Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide direct feedback to Covered California on how it can better address access to health coverage and the healthcare needs of Black Californians.
WHY: An estimated 1.1 million Californians are currently uninsured and eligible for financial help, with the vast majority able to receive coverage at no cost through either Covered California or Medi-Cal. Californians should have access to the high-quality healthcare they need to lead long and healthy lives. Covered California and CBHN are inviting Black Californians to the virtual table to voice their questions and concerns, as it directly relates to their healthcare, and to take part in a conversation focused on closing significant health equity gaps.
