Timing
The peak of this storm’s heavy rain and Sierra snow will be Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon. Thunderstorms could develop Tuesday night through Wednesday, contributing to heavy rainfall rates at times.
Some showery precipitation may linger into Wednesday night.
Another storm system will keep the unsettled weather pattern going Thursday through Friday, but rain and snow amounts from it will be light.
Impacts
Rainfall:Â Parts of southwestern and Northern California will see 1 to 3 inches of rain through Thursday. Heavier rain amounts over 3 inches are possible along the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada below snow level.
Flooding:Â This storm could cause urban and small-stream flooding. Recent burn areas could also be prone to flooding, particularly from heavier rainfall rates in any thunderstorms.
