Joel Gonzales (DOB 02/11/96), of Camarillo, was charged with the October 15, 2020, sexual assaults of two female residents of the Royal Gardens assisted living center in Camarillo. Gonzales assaulted the two women while employed as a caretaker at the facility. His charges include assault with the intent to commit rape, lewd acts upon a dependent person, and kidnapping with the intent to commit lewd acts upon a dependent person.Â
Investigators arrested Gonzales on January 6, 2021, at the Ventura County Jail where he was already in custody for the attempted murder of a six-year-old Camarillo girl.
On February 4, 2021, Gonzales appeared for arraignment on the sexual assault charges. He entered a plea of not guilty as to both the sexual assault and attempted murder charges. The case was set for an early disposition conference on April 18, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 12 of the Ventura County Superior Court. Gonzales remains in custody where he is being held without bail.Â
