Charlie Kirk challenges the church to rise up against ‘tyranny’

    By Michael Hernandez

NEWBURY PARK—”We have seen a master case of tyranny these last six weeks,” said Charlie Kirk, 26 year old founder and president of Turning Point USA and guest speaker at all three Sunday Godspeak Calvary worship services. “You have micro-tyranny when you have widespread fear-mongering edicts that empower people to become micro-tyrants who were never elected.

“I have traveled across 25 states this summer and have seen widespread tyranny happening as we have abdicated more of our freedom and liberty. I have four big takeaways:

    1. We are close to becoming a country of tyranny.
    2. Freedom is a value you must teach.
    3. Tyrants are so much weaker than we ever thought.
    4. When we stand up to tyranny, we win.

    According to Kirk:

    • Tyrants believe in nothing but power.
    • The type of people making decisions prey on the willing.
    • It is impossible to have tyranny when you have truth.

Charlie Kirk, opened up his message by stating: “The eyes of the nation are on this church right now.” He then thanked the congregation for a “healthy relationship between pastor and church.” The dynamic is healthy: a bold congregation; a bold pastor. ”I compliment all of you. It is not easy to keep showing up,” especially if you have opposition from family and friends.

“Jesus says: ‘Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven” (Matthew 5:11-12). “If you are not persecuted, then you are living a ‘comfortable Christianity’ that has resulted in your young not going to school; jobs disappearing; businesses being shut down.”

Charlie Kirk next turned his focus on the public school system. “The education of our children is the most important thing you can value. I am a fan of homeschooling. We need to wake up against the systemic injustice of the public school system. Tons of money go to our property tax and what we have now are zoom calls (remote online education). This is moral fraud of the public school system.”

“Educators are asking students to sign waivers or non-disclosure agreements that parents are not allowed to see instruction” or not allowed to record or publicize the instruction they are receiving. “What are they afraid of? Colleges have opened up charging the exact same amount of money for students to Skype without tuition or room and board adjustments.

“If we do our job, we can make positive changes in education We can make real changes.”

According to Charlie Kirk, “the country is in chaos. The church has decided it doesn’t matter.” Sermons have become nothing more that Ted Talks online. All the church has done is lose: “Hollywood, big business, corporate America, our schools, streams of communication. We must be an activist church. We must recognize the truth. Most churches are unequipped. They have no muscle memory. The church is missing the greatest opportunity to reach thousands and tens of thousands. The church has abandoned the young people.”

A legal dissent from the Supreme Court ruling that went against a Las Vegas Calvary Chapel stated: “Caesar Palace Las Vegas is not more essential than Calvary Chapel.” Charlie Kirk said this might not change until President Donald Trump issues an executive order that “churches are essential.”

More than 1,020 were watching the 9 a.m. Godspeak livestream worship service from at least three regions outside of the United States (Canada, the United Kingdom, and Southeast Asia) and from over 10 States (Alabama, California, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas).

Pastor Rob McCoy who received a standing ovation when he came to the pulpit said: “I may be standing, but you are holding me up.”  He then introduced Charlie Kirk by calling him “one of the strongest preachers in the country.” According to Pastor McCoy, “Tyrants are enslaving our rights and it is our duty to push back. The purpose of government as outlined by our founders is to protect our God given rights. If the press surrenders to tyrants and the pulpits are silent, we soon will be silenced.”

Turning Point USA, is a national student movement dedicated to empowering young people to promote the principles of free markets and limited government. During the past three weeks, Charlie Kirk has spoken at Calvary Chapel Bangor, Maine; a Michigan church; and at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills.

Beyond the he said or didn’t say arguments that the words God or Jesus were used, there are some legitimate questions that both Godspeak Officials and the State Government have to answer so that reasonable people can come to some conclusions they can trust.

Start with the obligation, primarily from the State, to prove that attendees of The Church have contracted and spread the virus that 99% of those who get it survive. Without proof of infection, and the proven loss of life as a result, there is no reason for a Church lockdown for those who choose to attend.

On the part of Godspeak, how about a simple temperature check on the way into the Sanctuary. And excuse me if that is already being done.

We celebrate the wonderful courage of the effort at Godspeak Calvary Church to defy the Governor’s totally illegal and unfair shutdown of churches. What is not said is the fate of millions of Catholics in California as a result of the Governor’s order. In the Archdiocese of LA, Archbishop Gomez has been a consistent and uncritical supporter of the Governor’s shutdown orders. The Archbishop’s shutdown follow-up is not as easy to defy as the willful defiance of a Protestant church not subject to hierarchical jurisdiction. Unfortunately, the Democrat-friendly politics of the unofficial ruling oligarchy of United States Bishop’s Conference has been working for decades to avoid any dependence of their decisions on the opinions of the laity in their parishes. Hence the shut downs will continue in California indefinitely until the Governor decides what he does by whatever court or political pressure is exerted on him. Therefore most California Catholics find it much more useful than speaking to their Leftist local Bishop or Clergy allied to that Bishop to lean on Pro-Lifer President Trump. Trump not only has and continues to check the Globalists of the Pope and the UN, but also to check the power of the Leftist ruling oligarchy of the U.S. Bishops Conference. By this means alone serious Catholics may have some degree of confidence that the Church is working to observe its own Magisterial teachings.

A real church that worships God. You will actually hear the words God and Jesus at this church folks. They have 10,000 members and yet somehow they still follow the law.

I saw Charlie Kirk and McCoy was on stage with him. Go back and watch it, McCoy was on stage at the start and after his presentation. The presentation was political not worship of God. I really did watch it, and you did not. Charlie Kirk flew into Camarillo on a beautiful private jet. Advocacy of extremist politics must be a great business.

When the Right shows up, the Left gives up!

Now Pastor McCoy and the Godspeak CC Church Elders need to keep the pressure on — by NOT paying the unconstitutional $3,000 fine the VC government has levied on the church, and continuing to meet openly.

Remember: the mainstream media is trying to bury this story at all costs.

Not on the service I just watched. The only time God and Jesus was mentioned was during the Music.

    Well John,
I was there and it was one of the amazing messages I’ve ever heard, and he did concentrate on God’s Word.

Charlie Kirk was a a guest speaker at Godspeak Calvary today. This only shows that you are posting without watching the church service. California churches on the State Monitoring List (most counties) have been closed to indoor services since July 13th by executive order of Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Correction. Turning Point USA is not a student movement. It is a propaganda movement started by an 80 year man, Bill Montgomery who died of complications from COVID.

Thank you Pastor McCoy, Charlie Kirk, the Calvary Congregation and all Faithful people in the Conejo who are walking with you.
K-6 will be back to normal. Everything will be healed when all Houses of Worship are open and following the lead of Pastor McCoy.

How weird. In most churches they concentrate on God.
