Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
On February 6, 2021, the Ventura Police Command Center received a call from a business in Ventura stating that a juvenile female employee was being harassed by an adult customer. During the interaction, the customer bought the juvenile female employee flowers and gave her his phone number indicating he wanted to meet her.
Ventura Police Special Victims Unit detectives began to investigate the incident. During the investigation detectives and the suspect, Mora, began communicating via telephone and text messaging. Mora’s communication began to be explicitly sexual in nature and Mora wanted to meet the victim for sexual exploits knowing the victim was a juvenile.
On February 25, 2021, Mora drove in his work vehicle from Lomita and arranged to meet the victim at Marina Park with his dog. Mora also rented a hotel room nearby. Detectives from our Street Crimes Unit intercepted Mora at Marina Park and he was taken into custody. During the arrest Mora was in possession of a loaded firearm.
A subsequent search warrant of the hotel room and Mora’s vehicle led to finding items of sexual adult paraphernalia.
Mora was booked into Ventura County Jail on charges of unlawful communications with a minor, luring a child for the purpose of engaging in lewd acts with a minor, and possession of a loaded concealed firearm.
