All my life I have heard the Siren Song of the Democrats, “We must do this—it’s for the children.” Or…”Let’s push this law through—it’s for the children.” And, “We need this money—it’s to save the children.” However, at the end of the day, the slogans were, and are, without real conviction and action. The funds raised usually end up in pension funds and the grasping government trough.
Democrats are not the only ones to press on our tear ducts for their causes. No, there are precedents galore of politicians using the innocents for base, nefarious purposes. Examples abound.
The Children’s Crusades were one of the greatest atrocities performed on thousands of children—a horror unfortunately almost forgotten. To win back the Holy Land from Muslim occupation, the Catholic Church used children in the long march to Jerusalem. By the thousands, they died of starvation, disease, and abuse.
At our borders, we have the new children’s crusade, in conjunction with the family crusade. This time it is not the Catholic Church using children in the long march to America. No, this time it is the church of Socialism that spreads rumors that if you make it across the border everything will be free for you.
Frankly, I am astonished that the Democrat Party, so well known for the Save The Children song, have not only turned a blind eye to the children’s horrific conditions on the border, but turned their back-sides to the matter as well. I, for one, have not forgotten their combined wail and howl about food and health care for children of parents living among us illegally. So, where is their outrage when children are used as pawns at the border. Do Democrat lawmakers not read the papers or see the media reports? How can it escape their attention that children are bought and sold to strangers for the appearance of family migration? Do these formerly apparently so caring Democrats not know that the administration has to genetically test children to sort out who belongs to whom?
Why do these aberrant lawmakers believe that the American taxpayer should be responsible for the overflowing masses of the world? Ten different nationalities have been reported crossing illegally into the U.S. by the hundreds and thousands.
To humanely taking care of the throng at the border brakes the very structure of the facilities and resources allocated to that task. Furthermore, the resources of the system are running out. For months, the Democrats have refused to allocate funds to alleviate the situation.
Here I must quote statics: in the first eight months of 2019, border agents apprehended 56,300 unaccompanied children at the southern border, as well as 333,000 migrants traveling as part of a family group. In May 2019 Customs and Border Protection (CBP) apprehended 132,887 who crossed the border illegally, compared to 14,519 in May of 2017.
I would suggest that every law-maker refusing to help stem the tide on the border should be required by law to take at least two illegal migrant families into his or her home and care for them as if they were their own. I grant you—if we were to enforce this law the border would be closed by tomorrow.
