Setting Brushfires of Freedom by Don Jans

Christmas Has Come to Casa Pacifica!

    Alumni return for Holiday Party
One of the best nights of the year is our Annual Alumni Holiday Party. It’s so much fun to see some of the youth we have served in the past, come back to visit and celebrate with kids and families of their own. Organized by our Transitional Youth Services (TYS) staff the event is always a hit, especially with the little ones. This years’ celebration included a traditional holiday meal compliments of our very own Chef Jeff, ornament making, cookie decorating and of course a visit from the big guy himself, Santa Claus!
All of Casa Pacifica’s 15 programs are designed to meet children and families where they are and at some of the most difficult times in their life. Whether in homes, in the community, or on campus, we couldn’t provide these critical services without your help.

What a difference a day makes.
What an amazing day of giving! On December 3rd, we surpassed our #GivingTuesday goal and raised over $24,000 that will go towards our annual fundraising goal of $3.8 million to support at-risk youth and families! Thank you so so much to everyone who donated, and thank you for liking and sharing our fundraiser! #GivingTuesday was a success thanks to YOU!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Thanks to the design talents of Pat Bostrom (right) and friend Sharon Gaiser (left) the Christmas trees of Casa Pacifica are a sight to behold! Bostrom has been lending her artistic touch to Casa Pacifica for 15 years and has been decorating our campus holiday trees for the last 5.
“I love doing this for the children,” she said. “I love to give to these kids.”
Thank you ladies, for your time, attention to detail and for filling Casa Pacifica with the holiday spirit!

Saying goodbye to a friend and an Angel
Sheila Rakestraw, former Casa Pacifica Board President and longtime Casa Pacifica Angel passed away last month. She has been a champion for our children since we opened our doors in 1994. She helped with countless Angels fundraising events, joined the Board of Directors in 2001, and later became Board President in 2010. She was the recipient of the Guardian Angel and Seraphim award in 2004, both given to a Casa Pacifica Angel who truly exemplifies commitment, courage, leadership, and uncommon vision. Sheila’s joyful and gentle spirit will be missed by many. Thank you, Sheila, for loving our children and making a difference in their lives.
If you would like to make a donation to Casa Pacifica in memory of Sheila please contact Carrie Hughes at (805) 366-4011 or [email protected].
