    News Release

Ventura, Calif. – Ventura City Hall, will open its doors to the community, inviting all art enthusiasts and residents to partake in a two-day celebration of the arts during the ArtWalk event on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24, 2023.

The event activities at City Hall will run from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore Ventura’s Municipal Art Collection and enjoy captivating live performances by local musicians, dancers, and poets.

The Atrium in City Hall will come alive with performances by Ventura County Poets, Ventura High School String Quartet and Jazz Combo, Rubicon Theatre Company, and Ventura County Ballet throughout the day.

City Hall proudly houses Ventura’s Municipal Art Collection, featuring over 90 diverse artworks by local artists. Visitors are encouraged to embark on self-guided tours of the collection, with knowledgeable staff available to provide additional insights into the building’s rich historical architecture and artwork.

“Ventura is a vibrant art community, and our Parks & Recreation Department works tirelessly to showcase these talents throughout the city through our public art programs,” said Mayor Joe Schroeder. “As you stroll through town, you’ll encounter colorful murals adorning building facades, artistically painted utility boxes at street corners, and striking public art sculptures gracing our parks and buildings.”

ArtWalk Ventura, organized by a local nonprofit, showcases Ventura’s art community through exhibits, demonstrations, and performances hosted at over 40 venues throughout Downtown Ventura and the Westside. To learn more about the ArtWalk event, performers and artists, visit www.artwalkventura.org.
