In response to current high temperatures in Southern California, the City of Simi Valley has designated the Simi Valley Senior Center as a Cooling Center. The City encourages senior citizens and any others who may be at risk due to the extreme heat or temporary loss of electricity, to consider the Cooling Center when seeking refuge from the extreme heat.
Cooling Center participants will have their temperatures taken prior to being permitted entry to the Cooling Center. Cooling Center participants shall maintain a distance of at least six feet between individuals within the Center and masks will be required at all times. Participants not wearing a mask will be provided one upon entry.
The Cooling Center will be open today, Tuesday, August 18 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Dial-A-Ride transportation to and from the Cooling Center is available to Cooling Center participants by calling Simi Valley Transit at (805) 583-6464.
