Charles Cole Republican for State Assembly, California’s 37th District
To our great Law Enforcement people in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
I want to express my unwavering support for you and for law-enforcement across the nation in these turbulent times. With equal vigor, I am totally and unequivocally opposed to any defunding of any law enforcement agency in the 37th Assembly District. For any public official to call for, or even suggest defunding of the ‘thin-blue-line’ protecting public safety is an outrageous violation of their oath of office.
When some in government are bowing to forces of anarchy, and ‘taking a keen’ to virtue signal or appease the mob, I tell you I will always back law enforcement and your mission to protect and serve. I have your back when I get to the Assembly in Sacramento. These last few weeks have been especially hard on the nation as we all reel from the protests, riots, and recoil from the brutal murder of George Floyd by a rogue police officer. That officer is facing the verdict of our criminal justice system just as other rogue officers have in the past and will in the future. Burning, looting, and killing police officers is not justice for Mr. Floyd.
There can be effective, caring, and inexpensive solutions to this ongoing, tragic ‘excessive force’ police problem. Judging from the backlash to ‘defund police departments’… It would be better to solve the few rogue officer problems then to lose entire departments, trust from the community and put public safety for all citizens at risk.
I appreciate Sheriff Bill Brown taking the time last week to ZOOM with me and my campaign officials. I’m looking forward to a ‘ride along’ with his Sheriff’s Deputies soon and I will always have the back of all 37th Assembly District peace officers when I vote in the Assembly.
We cannot thank you enough for your service to public safety…but we should try. Respectfully,
