    County of Ventura COVID-19 Update 8/21/2020

    COVID-19 Update
    .
    There are 138 new cases today (37 (26.8%) of which have a lab collection from August 14th or earlier), 1,032 additional people tested, and 1 additional deaths (88 year old male with comorbidities). We have had a 35.9% decrease in reported cases from the previous week (from 944 to 605). Current doubling time is 94.6 days.
    .
    Currently, we are on the state monitoring list for case rate per 100,000 population over 14 days; in order for us to get off the monitoring list, we need to have less than 850 reported cases in a 14 day period which is an average of 60 cases a day.
    .
    Total, we have 102 deaths (age range 29-107 years; 63 males and 39 females; 46 Non-Hispanic White, 45 Hispanic, 8 Non-Hispanic Asian, 1 Non-Hispanic Black, 1 Non-Hispanic American Indian or Alaskan Native and 1 Non-Hispanic Other). All people who have died of COVID-19 in Ventura County have had comorbidities except for a 94 year old male and a 79 year old female.

    We have 141,759 people tested; 6.8% (9,695) of the 141,759 people tested have been positive.
    .
    Currently there are 72 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and 28 in the ICU.
    .
    Please continue to wear a mask in public places, social distance and only gather with members of your family. Your actions are making a difference!

    The Ventura County Complete Count Committee will lead a Census Caravan on Saturday, August 22. The caravan will begin its route in Thousand Oaks at 9:30am and will end in Simi Valley around 3pm.

    For in person assistance, there will be Mobile Questionnaire Assistance centers in the following locations this Saturday, August 22nd:

    – Downtown Ventura from 10am – 2pm
    .
    – Simi Valley, Vallarta Shopping Center on Los Angeles Avenue and First Street 3-5 pm.
