Over the past few years, I have advocated for the residents of Oxnard. I have believed that fighting for our families, community, and future is the TOP priority. I believe we should be working towards building a FUTURE city. A city that is far ahead of its time and still has room to provide opportunities. Sadly, Oxnard has been making a NOW city, and it continues to place the burden on our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all other future Oxnardians. We see a lack of housing, parking, jobs, recreational space, strong business community, and opportunities.
I’ve advocated for affordable housing that gives FIRST preference to Oxnard residents because multiple families sharing one home or apartment is unacceptable. I’ve advocated to establish a transitional housing program that gets homeless off the streets and into permanent housing while providing them with medical care, trade skills job training, and creating a financial plan. I advocated for more resources to combat crime in our city. Just a few years ago, we saw a 25% increase in violent crimes (homicides).
I’ve advocated for well-paying jobs in Oxnard because a person should not work hard and still struggle to support their family. I continue to support the call for Good Governance in our city where our Council will put the needs of the 207,000+ Oxnard residents above their own political agendas.
We saw what this last budget plan did to our residents and employees. We saw it take away services, layoff employees, close essential fixtures in our city and place others on borrowed time. That is why I advocate for our residents. That’s why I’ve always advocated for placing more into the reserves and exploring new revenue streams. That is why I push for better results from the Council and staff, and
that’s why I will be running in 2020 for Oxnard Council District 4. We deserve to have representatives
that put the majority’s needs over personal ambitions. Representatives should be addressing our challenges head-on, and not reapplying the same wet band-aid. I ask for your support and confidence as we begin our preparation for 2020. Find out more and join me at www.danielchavezjr.com/get-involved.
Together, we can build a bright future and keep Oxnard STRONG.
Oxnard Council District 4 is made up of the following neighborhoods: Marina West, Bartolo Square North/South, Kamala Park, Hobson Park East/West, Five Points, Wilson (south of 2nd Street) and Pacific Avenue Commercial Area.
