Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release
At approximately 06:20 this morning, VCFD and SVPD personnel responded to a structure fire at 1567 Elvado Dr. w/ a possible subject deceased inside. Upon arrival, they found a shed on the side yard of the residence ablaze. The fire engulfed a nearby tree before spreading to the main residence.
The fire was quickly extinguished with moderate damage to two bedrooms of the main residence and the shed completely destroyed. A male subject who had been living in the shed was found deceased inside. Nothing suspicious upon first glance as it appeared the fire was accidentally set by the occupant. Identity of victim being withheld pending VCME notification of next-of-kin.
