On Wednesday, October 3, officers from the Santa Paula Police Department and community members will come together in an informal setting to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee.
All community members are invited to attend. The event will be hosted from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3 at Rabalais’ Bistro, 861 E. Main Street, Santa Paula, CA 93060. Please contact Commander Scott Varner with questions: (805) 525-4474 ext. 105 or [email protected]. Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about police work in Santa Paula.
The majority of contacts that the community has with law enforcement occur during emergencies and/or emotional situations, which may not be the best time to build relationships with the community. Coffee with a Cop helps break down barriers and humanizes the officers in a neutral location while showing that there’s a real human behind the badge.
“We are excited and looking forward to this event that was designed for meaningful conversations with residents. This is a great opportunity to meet with citizens and better understand what matters to them most,” said Commander Scott Varner. “We hope this event will be the first of many and that the community will come out and converse with us.”
The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.
