The 7:30 p.m. screening at the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will be followed by a discussion led by Matthew Fienup, an economist at the Center for Economic Research and Forecasting at Cal Lutheran University. When the U.S. economy doubled over a 30-year span, most of the gains went to the few at the top while the middle class stagnated, Reich says in the film. Failure to share the prosperity has slowed consumer spending, by far the biggest driver of the economy, according to the documentary. Reich and others on camera question whether the growing clout of the super-rich is undermining democracy. The Community Forum at 3327 Old Conejo Road in Newbury Park is open to the public and free; donations will be accepted. For information, visit www.forum.cvuuf.org or call (805) 405-1792.
