Interventional pain specialist to share insight on assisting those struggling with opioid use…

Oxnard, CA – (September 25, 2018) – St. John’s Regional Medical Center (SJRMC), a Dignity Health Central Coast hospital, invites the public to attend an informative seminar focusing on how to combat the opioid epidemic in our community. This free and educational event will feature a presentation by Interventional Pain and Addiction Medicine Specialist, Joseph A. Cabaret, MD, who will share information on what we can do about this devastating epidemic.

“The Opioid Epidemic and Our Community” will be held on Tuesday, October 9th from 5:00-7:30 p.m. in the Conference Center, located on the Garden Level at St. John’s Regional Medical Center (1600 N. Rose Ave. in Oxnard).

“Although unfortunate, opioid usage is prevalent, and we are working to identify how to proactively address the issue,” said Dr. Joseph A. Cabaret at St. John’s Hospitals. “We want to empower community members by providing education, resources, and the knowledge to understand this epidemic and how they can work towards overcoming the addiction with the proper tools.”

This course will address preconceptions about addiction and about who can become vulnerable to opioids. Dr. Cabaret will also explore the impact of opioid misuse. The information presented will help reduce the stigma around opioids, and educate people about multiple treatment options.

This session is not intended to serve as medical advice. This course offers essential information regarding opioids to ensure patient safety and to increase provider awareness and knowledge regarding the use of opioids.

Space is limited; guests may confirm attendance by calling (805) 988-2865. Class registration closes on October 3, 2018 – enrollment is required.
