COMES TO VENTURA COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
FOR 27TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION
A filled to the brim showcase of 24,000 handmade creations, the 27th Annual Ventura Harvest Festival® Original Art & Craft show gets underway Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. Seaside Park at the beach becomes a hub of activities with shopping, live entertainment, contests, strolling entertainers, and a Kidzone with a pumpkin patch.
It’s the west coast’s largest indoor arts & crafts showcase that never disappoints. As a juried showcase, the works of more than 300 exhibitors are on display with jewelry, woodwork, home décor, hand-woven clothing and accessories, ornaments, specialty foods and sauces, furniture, photography, blown glass, sculptures, and more. There are crafting demonstrations, and many of the artists can personalize items for that perfect gift.
“For us, it’s all about creating a memorable fall event that friends and families look forward to sharing together,” says Harvest Festival new owner and event veteran Nancy Glenn. “It’s a unique personalized experience when patrons interact with the artists. They appreciate the time and energies that go into creating something unique that’s not manufactured.” Local artists include: hand painted tiles from Cicely Reeve of Thousand Oaks, specialty foods from Lisa Swartley of Moorpark, sculptures from Candice Cassidy and vintage handbags from Connie Gunderson of Ventura, candles from Kathleen Riley of Simi Valley, and dog fashions from Hannah Hogan of Westlake Village.
Food Share will be on hand to offer $2 admission discounts to patrons who bring canned goods for donation. The Boys & Girls Club of Ventura also benefits from sales of shopping bags as they greet guests. The Kidzone will feature hands-on crafting courtesy of Macaroni Kid and playtime equipment from MyGym Ventura. Lowe’s Home Improvement of Ventura will host free “make & take” garden crafts for kids, and Ventura’s Green Thumb International sponsors the wonderful pumpkin patch area, perfect for seasonal photos and fun. The Ventura County Star is the official daily newspaper and partner radios include Gold Coast Broadcasting and Cumulus Media.
Fall awakens in full splendor with the Harvest Festival shopping and entertainment experience. Info and tickets are available at www.harvestfestival.com or call 925/ 392-7300.
