Honoring the Honor Guard | October 26th, 2018

Diana “Dinah” J. Davis is the Ventura, Ojai, and Camarillo branch business manager for Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association. She is also the force behind the Honor the Honor Guard event to be held on Friday October 26th at 10:00 am in the Ventura Room (Auditorium) at the Poinsettia Pavilion. Four key life events have inspired Dinah to organize this solemn ceremony.

Dinah grew up in a military family. Her father was an Army veteran who passed away two years ago on September 3rd. He was given a military burial. This past summer, Dinah attended another military funeral. Her father-in-law , a retired Air Force Lt. Col. was buried in Riverside in 118-degree weather, the honor guard dressed in their formal uniforms performing the service. And finally, Dinah is the mother of twins, two Major Select Special Forces Officers in the Air Force.

Dinah’s work in the home health and hospice industry combined with her many military connections made her appreciate more fully the honorable farewell the Honor Guards and Color Guards give to our veterans and the comfort and pride they deliver to their families and friends. The men and women who perform this venerable service do so in all kinds of weather. They are devoted and dedicated to performing this final farewell for their fellow veterans.

The Ventura County Veteran Services Office and Livingstone Memorial Visiting Nurse Association have been partnering for four years in honoring veterans and thanking them for their sacrifice and service to our nation. Now, they are partnering again to honor the Honor Guard and thank them for the moving, solemn, final services they perform. We hope you will join them for this special thank-you event.
