United Parents will host a free event on November 29th from 9:30 am until 7:30 pm at the Oxnard Church for the Nations, 270 West 5th St., in Oxnard. The overall theme of the event is “How to Keep My Child Safe.” This theme has been highly prevalent in our parent/caregiver surveys that have been distributed countywide.
The morning session will be on Bullying/Cyberbullying, the afternoon session on Drug & Alcohol Prevention and Child Protection and the evening topic will be dealing with Violence in the home & community and how it affects children.
There will also be a session on self-care for the parents/caregivers.
We will be providing breakfast, lunch & dinner as well as “prizes” to make the event more appealing for the parents. Childcare is FREE and will be provided at the same location.
About Us
United Parents is a grass roots nonprofit agency founded in 1990 on the basic principle of “parents helping parents”. Understanding the unique challenges of families raising children with emotional, behavioral or mental disorders, we identify and bridge gaps in traditional services by integrating local resources to enhance the long term outcomes in the home and community. We advocate for families to be recognized as full partners in the treatment and care of their children which is key to recovery.
