Soroptimist International of Oxnard [SIO] will meet Wednesday, May 17th, at 7:30am at the Courtyard Marriott (600 Esplanade Drive, Oxnard) for their monthly program meeting.
Stephanie Hagy will be the guest speaker, on the topic of health and wellness. Stephanie, a mother of 6 grown children, grandmother of 5, has been in the Nutrition/Wellness/Fitness Industry for over 40 years. A former nationally ranked competitive swimmer in the 60’s/70’s who helped pioneer competitive swimming in Minnesota high schools back when girls sports only allowed track and field or gymnastics as sports. Also, served as an adventure guide in Northern Minnesota, Wyoming, and British Columbia, helping guide inner city youth into the wilderness to teach a love of outdoors, team building, wilderness survival skills, and how to boost their self reliance through challenging comfort zones. Having witnessed many wellness products and fitness regimes come and go through the years, she has gained much wisdom and insight into simple effective health and fitness, and is gifted at separating silly trends from foundational truth. She will teach you the basics of good health, what you really need, and what you really don’t. She will be speaking on “Living Simply, Healthy, Happy, & Long, but without the Stress!” A co-leader, with her daughter, of the website, “The Renegade Farm-Assists” (www.therenegadefarmassists.com), a website dedicated to putting simple health and beauty back into a hectic life, she is passionate about empowering women to find simple health and fitness that works for their life. She is also a life long organic gardener and advocate of growing your own veggies. Her daughter, Katie Badilla, will be accompanying her to share her story of health and wellness with her young children.
