After 19 years of confined imprisonment, Jean Valjean is granted freedom by Javert, the prison overseer. Deciding to choose a different path, Valjean breaks parole and uses funds from stolen silver to reinvent himself as a benevolent mayor and successful factory owner. Despite his positive transformation, officer Javert remains committed to bringing Valjean back to prison for his broken parole. Eight years later, Valjean becomes the caring guardian of young Cosette following her mother’s passing. However, the persistent pursuit by Javert casts a shadow over the peaceful life that Valjean desperately seeks.
