On October 28, 2021, Camarillo Patrol deputies responded to the 200 block of Dawson Drive, reference, Christopher Sherman, who battered a victim, made criminal threats, and vandalized the victim’s property. Furthermore, the victim observed a handgun in the waistband of Sherman during the incident.  Camarillo Patrol deputies obtained information on Sherman’s whereabouts, and he was arrested for the above-mentioned crimes.
Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail (SED) detectives learned that Sherman is a convicted felon and obtained a search warrant for Sherman’s residence and located a loaded firearm and other evidence pertaining to the investigation.
Based on the investigation, Sherman was additionally arrested and booked for unlawful transfer of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a baton by a convicted felon and possession of dangerous fireworks without a permit. Sherman is currently in custody in lieu of $75,000 bail. He is scheduled for court on November 1, 2021.
The Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail is comprised of six plain clothes detectives who focus on efforts that negatively affect the quality of life of the law-abiding citizens of Camarillo. The goal of Camarillo SED is to reduce property and violent crime through investigations and direct enforcement.
