On June 28th at 6:30 PM the Ventura County Fire Communication Center (FCC) received multiple calls of a brush fire in the area of Grant Park in Ventura. A brush fire response was dispatched to the area and the first arriving fire engine reported a brush fire in the urban interface near Ferro Dr. and Brakey Rd. Fire department resources initiated a quick and aggressive fire attack which kept the fire to a
½ acre. All immediate threats to life and property were mitigated promptly and fire crews achieved 100% extinguishment after approximately 90 minutes. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported as a result of this incident.
The Ventura Fire Department would like to remind the public to have a safe 4th of July weekend and that California law requires that homeowners clear out flammable materials such as brush or vegetation from around their buildings to 100 feet to create a defensible space buffer.
