(Ojai, California) Ojai Valley Community Hospital is proud to announce the addition of a technologically advanced mammography system to the Ojai Valley. The purchase of the Hologic 3Dimensions Mammography System was made possible thanks to $100,000 in proceeds from the Ojai Valley Community Hospital Foundation Guild’s annual Nightingale gala fundraising event and an additional $20,000 from the Swift Foundation.
The top-of-the-line system produces sharper 3D images and detects significantly more invasive cancer than 2D mammography. What’s more, it is the only mammogram system proven to be superior in women with dense breasts. The use of a curved compression surface that mirrors the shape of the breast allows for more even compression and enhanced patient comfort. This design improves visibility of the fine details for a better picture and greater diagnostic confidence.
“Ojai Valley Community Hospital is proud to provide the latest in 3D mammogram technology to the residents of the Ojai Valley,” said the hospital’s Chief Administrative Officer, Haady Lashkari. “We are grateful to the Ojai Valley Community Hospital Foundation Guild as well as the Swift Foundation for making this level of preventative care available right here in our community.”
“A thriving hospital is a foundational component of a healthy community, and the Ojai Valley Community Hospital Foundation is committed to ensuring that the best healthcare resources are available in the Ojai Valley for years to come,” added Tiarzha Taylor, Foundation Chair. “The Foundation’s contribution toward the purchase of the new Hologic 3Dimensions Mammogram machine was made possible by the community of Ojai. I would like to thank everyone who has made a gift, volunteered their time, or participated in a Foundation fundraiser. Your support helped make this technology available at Ojai Valley Community Hospital.”
