Spread the CHRISTMAS SPIRIT to troops who aren’t able to see their families this CHRISTMAS!
Unfortunately, due to many reasons, there are many troops all over the globe, and even here at home, who won’t be able to see their families this year. For many troops this is nothing new, they’ve already spent Christmas while deployed overseas on previous tours of service during wartime. But this year, due to circumstances of COVID-19, there are thousands more troops who aren’t able to be home because of the virus.
For example, last week we received a note from a Chaplain of some 300 candidates undergoing training for an elite Special Operations unit from one of the major branches. Though we cannot disclose what unit, suffice to say it is one of the most elite SpecOps forces in the entire military and has the most grueling and difficult training programs.
These future SpecOps warriors were informed, just weeks before Christmas, that due to COVID-19 they would NOT be allowed to return to their families for the Holidays during their training period. They were told they must remain on-base and under quarantine for Christmas.
It was a huge blow to each individual and this is the same situation that many troops around the world find themselves in. Where in normal years, they would get leave to return home for a short time to spend the Holidays with family, this year due to circumstances of Coronavirus, they’re being told to stay put.
You can help provide comfort and care to troops who aren’t able to see their families by sending a care package full of Christmas cheer to lift their spirits. It’s no substitute for seeing your family, but it is an important reminder that they are loved and supported, which is vital during this difficult time for our Nation.
