At the end of January, I got a call on a Monday morning. It was from a very nice man who told me he represented someone who wanted to give our clubs $3.2 million.
I didn’t believe him.
A few days later we received $3.2 million from MacKenzie Scott.
I believed it then.
MacKenzie and her team of experts selected the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme after months of intense research. She saw that we get results and are well run by a group of incredible leaders. She saw that we focused on those that needed us the most and made the right impact. She saw everything that you, our supporters, have made possible. (Link to Impact Report)
We will be using these funds to lay a foundation for our clubs to thrive in the long term. We want to make sure that we are always here for kids, through even the toughest of times. That our clubs would be here not just for our kids, but their kids and grandkids.
This effort isn’t over and there is still much work to be done.
I hope you feel proud of what we have accomplished together.
