Jeff Hargleroad Challenges County Succession Plan

CAMARILLO, CA, May 13, 2022 – Jeff Hargleroad, a local farmer and seasoned executive is running for Ventura County Clerk-Recorder, Registrar of Voters. As an experienced senior executive and farmer, he seeks to lead this critical department that touches every resident in the county with a customer first approach, ensuring greater access to County services, improving election security and managing your hard-earned tax dollars. Jeff Hargleroad is citizen candidate, not a career politician.

Eight weeks ago, just days before the candidate filing deadline, Hargleroad heard of the unexpected retirement announcement of three elected officials. Each had their assistants ready to run for their positions with the intent they would run unopposed. Seeing the need for change, Hargleroad jumped into the race as the best qualified candidate to take on this critical position.

“The right to elect our representatives is the foundation of our country. Elections should not be set up with an end result planned to limit the voters’ choices. The people must have the option to review candidates and elect who they feel would represent them the best. I would be honored to represent the citizens of Ventura County as Clerk-Recorder, Registrar of Voters,” declares Hargleroad.

Jeff Hargleroad’s experience includes Executive Vice President of Corporate Operations at Sony Pictures, responsible for worldwide operations in over 50 countries with hundreds of employees and supervising diverse departments including technology, facilities, administration, real estate, manufacturing, asset and records management and other corporate operations. One of the most impactful departments he oversaw was the internal consulting group, Change Management.

The department would evaluate processes, gather analytics, assess and implement IT systems, and perform organizational reviews to manage transformative changes to meet challenging business environments. His annual operating budget was generally over $200M. He also held senior level positions at Universal and Verizon and earned and practiced as a CPA.

Hargleroad also farms his 75-acre avocado and lemon orchard here in Ventura County. As a commercial farmer, he manages the day-to-day operations, finances and long-term planning. He also plants, prunes and irrigates; he is a hands-on farmer, proud to produce food for your table.

Bringing private sector experience to this office, Hargleroad will ensure excellent customer service, transparency of all activities and the security of our elections. “The people will be my boss and my customer. They should have access to services that are convenient for them.” Unlike many government services, he will bring in a customer first approach to all aspects of the job. Transparency is also necessary as people should be informed what is happening in their County offices, how their money is being spent and have confidence in their elections.

Leadership is critical for this position. We elect leaders, not administrators. Hargleroad has the desire and experience to lead this critical office, Day One.
