I support Sue Horgan to be Ventura County’s next Treasurer-Tax Collector. She has been the Assistant Treasurer-Tax Collector since I brought her to the office nearly six years ago from the private banking industry. She is the day-to-day operations manager. She has participated in every policy decision.
She knows everything about managing the office. Her executive leadership skills are outstanding. She completely supports my policy that our principal duty is to provide top-quality service to the taxpayer. Her lengthy list of high-visibility endorsements supports her belief that this is a non-partisan, apolitical office. If I left the office permanently tomorrow, her transition would be seamless.
The differences between Horgan and her opponent are striking. He mistakenly believes that the job of Tax Collector is no more than putting stamps on envelopes.
He apparently is unaware that the treasury is a $12Billion bank, a business about which he has no experience.
He considers his time on a school board as complete qualification for personal management of a $3.5Billion investment fund. He disrespects County workers by arrogantly saying they don’t have his “ethos” for protecting the taxpayer because all they care about is their paychecks and their retirement.
For 12 years since I told you “IT’S YOUR MONEY” I have kept your interests at the top of my policies. Sue Horgan is the person with the experience and leadership to continue to keep your interests first.

You know, I was leaning towards Sue until you started badmouthing the opposition. This is one thing that needs to change in our politics. It doesn’t make the other person look bad. Rather, it reflects on your own character.
