VENTURA, California – District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Julio Cesar Sanchez (DOB 06/10/82), of Oxnard, has been charged with second-degree murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, gross vehicular manslaughter, and hit and run resulting in the death of a 16-year-old victim.
On September 29, 2021, Sanchez was driving on Hemlock Street in Oxnard when he struck and killed the victim who was riding his bicycle in the same direction on Hemlock Street. After striking the victim, he fled the scene. Officers located Sanchez’s unoccupied vehicle with significant damage shortly after the crash. On September 30, 2021, Sanchez was located at his home and arrested.
Sanchez appeared in court on October 4, 2021 and pled not guilty to the charges. He is scheduled for an early disposition conference on October 14, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 12 of the Ventura County Superior Court. Sanchez is currently in custody with bail set at $500,000.
