Narrative:
On 10/24/2021, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Narcotics Street Team assisted deputies from the Camarillo Patrol station with a narcotics arrest which yielded a significant amount of methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl laced pills, and US currency. The preliminary investigation indicated Tanya Vujovich and James Beltran played a role in the crime.
Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Street Team assumed the investigation. Investigators learned Tanya Vujovich resides in the 2300 Block of Avenida San Antero. A historical records check revealed, Tanya’s residence generated approximately 50 calls for service during the past several years, ranging from reports of suspicious subjects to reports of active narcotic activity and suspected drug overdoses. Based on this investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for Vujovich’s person, vehicle, and her residence.
On 10/31/2021, narcotics detectives along with investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Gang Unit served the search warrant at Vujovich’s residence. During the execution of the search warrant, detectives detained Vujovich and Beltran. Investigators also contacted and detained Keith Cook, Leslie Russell, Brian Kruft, and Camille Callahan. All subjects at the residence were evaluated and deemed to be under the influence of methamphetamine.
During the search of the residence, detectives noted the residence was poorly kept. In addition, detectives seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Based on the unsanitary condition of the residence, the narcotics/paraphernalia seized during the search, coupled with the fact all subjects were found to be under the influence of narcotics, investigators determined Vujovich was utilizing her residence for the purpose of unlawfully using controlled substance, a violation of Health and Safety Code Section 11366. Beltran, Cook, Russell, Kruft and Callahan were subsequently arrested for various narcotics violations. All subjects were booked into the Ventura County Pre[1]Trial Detention Facility pending court proceedings.
