Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release
On January 13, 2020, the Oxnard Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) completed a narcotics investigation related to the sales of methamphetamine to residents of Oxnard. With the assistance of the Oxnard PD SWAT Team, Oxnard PD K9 Unit, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO), detectives served a search warrant in the 700 block of Polaris Street and 100 block of Surfside Drive in the City of Port Hueneme. During the investigation, Edgar Avitia, 33 year old Port Hueneme Resident, and Sivestre Virrueta, 26 year old Port Hueneme resident, were detained at the residence located in the 700 block of Polaris Street.
DEU detectives conducted a search of Avitia’s residence and located a large quantity of methamphetamine, evidence consistent with the street sales of narcotics, and two firearms. Virrueta was found to be in possession of a small quantity of narcotics. Avitia was arrested for possession for sale of methamphetamine, a felony, and Virrueta was arrested for misdemeanor narcotics violations.
During the investigation, The VCSO Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail (SED) observed Sean Briseno, 37 year old Port Hueneme resident, leave the residence located in the 100 block of Surfside Drive. Camarillo SED Deputies conducted a traffic enforcement stop and Briseno was detained for the search warrant. Camarillo SED Deputies served the search warrant at the residence and DEU Detectives responded for the investigation. During the investigation, detectives located methamphetamine and ammunition. Briseno is a prohibited from owning or possessing ammunition due to a prior felony conviction. Briseno was arrested for misdemeanor narcotics violations and possession of ammunition, a felony.
